How to Choose the Right Makeup for Your Skin Type
Choose the Right Makeup for Your Skin Type: On our previous article entitled “different types of makeup for different occasions”, we already told you about the type of makeover options available for you. Now it is time for choosing the right makeup option. Before going for make over, first we need to understand our skin type
- Oily Skin: Your face looks shiny, especially on forehead, nose, and chin.
- Dry Skin: Skin feels tight, rough or flaky.
- Combination Skin: Oily in T-zone (forehead, nose, chin), but dry on cheeks.
- Normal Skin: Smooth, not too oily or dry.
- Sensitive Skin: Gets red or itchy easily with new products.
According to our skin type below are the available makeup products
For Oily Skin:
Oily skin can make makeup slide off. The key is to use oil-free and matte finish products.
- Primer: Use a mattifying primer to control shine.
- Foundation: Go for oil-free or powder-based foundation. Look for words like “matte”, “long-wear”.
- Compact Powder: Must-have to set makeup and reduce oil.
- Blush & Highlighter: Use powder blush instead of cream ones.
Tip: Always keep blotting paper in your bag to dab off excess oil.
For Dry Skin:
Dry skin needs hydration. Avoid powdery or matte formulas.
- Primer: Use a hydrating primer or moisturizer before makeup.
- Foundation: Use creamy or liquid foundations with moisturising ingredients.
- Concealer: Choose a hydrating one that doesn’t settle into dry patches.
- Lipstick: Avoid matte, go for satin or creamy lipsticks.
Tip: Mix a drop of facial oil in your foundation for a glowing finish.
For Combination Skin:
You need to balance both oily and dry areas.
- Primer: Use mattifying primer on T-zone and hydrating one on cheeks.
- Foundation: Go for liquid foundation with balanced formula.
- Powder: Use only on oily areas.
- Blush: Powder blush works well, but avoid too much layering.
Tip: Use a setting spray to hold everything in place.
For Sensitive Skin:
Choose gentle and natural makeup products.
- Primer & Foundation: Use fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products.
- Avoid: Harsh chemicals, alcohol-based makeup removers.
- Try: Aloe vera, chamomile or mineral-based products.
Tip: Always do a patch test before using a new product.
